Oleksandr Usyk, The Beast Of The Ring.

Tyson Fury suffers first defeat of his

professional career as he is beaten by Oleksandr Usyk by split decision in their undisputed world heavyweight title fight in Saudi Arabia; the British star called for a rematch in October. The British star's WBC title was ripped away by Usyk, who added it to his WBA, IBF and WBO belts after he sent Fury toppling into the ropes for a standing count that sealed victory with scores of 115-112, 113-114, 114-113 in Saudi Arabia.

But Fury believed he had done well to earn the win, even after Usyk had dominated the closing stages.

"I believe I won that fight," said Fury.

"I believe he won a few rounds but I won more of them. Make no mistake I won that fight and I'll be back.

"We go back to our families and we run it back in October. Promoter Frank Warren confirmed that Fury could receive a return bout against Usyk before the end of the year.

"It's what Tyson wants, the clause in the contract says 'immediate rematch'," Warren said.

Usyk has now become undisputed champion at both cruiserweight and heavyweight.

"Yeah of course. I am confident and ready for a rematch," said the Ukrainian, when asked for his immediate reaction. I feel good. A lot of people prayed for me, I love you.

"I'm very happy.

"My people will be very happy I think, it's a big win, not only for me, it's a big win for my country, for soldiers who now defend my country.

"I think my father is watching over me and is extremely happy. Dad, you know I love you. I can, you told me I can."

The Nigerian Sprinter "Amusan" Wins Jamaica Invitational

World record holder Tobi Amusan, is the fastest woman in the women’s 100m hurdles this year after running a blistering 12.40s to win the first Jamaica Athletics Invitational in Kingston, to win the race ahead of Jamaican and world champion, Danielle Williams.

For most part of the race, Amusan was behind reigning world champion Williams and America’s Nia Ali but surged ahead in the

closing stages, beating the previous world-leading time of 12.42s set by Tonea Marshall of the USA on April 20.

Williams finished second in 12.46s seconds, with Christina Clemens of the USA taking third place in 12.54s. Another Jamaican athlete, Yanique Thompson, secured fourth in 12.59s while Ali slipped to fifth with a time of 12.65s.

Amusan and other prominent athletes snubbed the Doha Diamond League to attend the Jamaica Invitational.

The Nigerian ended last season on a high by winning the Diamond League in Eugene, Oregon for a third consecutive time, silencing critics about her disappointing performance at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest where she placed fifth and lost the title to Williams.
